BEHIND the SUCCESS:
from cheese to QUESO.. Cheese was formed in ‘94 as something to do after classes. After some change in the band roster, by ‘98 cheese was playing regularly in clubs and underground concerts all around the metro and in different provinces. The same year they recorded their two-song self-titled E.P. which included the song ‘Fine’ and The ‘Way’.After the release of the E.P. and after heavy airplay of the song ‘Fine’, they signed with Warner. They have released two albums under Warner Music Philippines. They have garnered awards for Album of the Year, Vocalist of the Year and The Listeners Choice Award for their sophomore effort “Pilipinas” in the 2002 Nu107 Rock Awards. 2004 saw a change in the band’s name from Cheese to Queso. 2004 also saw the release of their first ever home video “Buhay Queso” released only on the black “pirate” market and is not commercially available. Now under no label, Queso released their self-titled 3rd effort last may 2006, launched it August of this year and are now making rounds touring and promoting the album, Quesong daga style!
Queso Coming Out With Four Videos This Year From 3rd Album Videos for the song's Insekta, Furlan , Katchatore and Billyboy are on the way. Furlan is actually on its final editing stage and should be airing sometime december this year or early next year. Katchatore is a computer generated animation video due to come out somtime late this year or early next year also. The Insekta video concept is an in your face gig in some grungy place. Billyboy on the other hand is a surprise. Billyboy is a collaboration between radioactive sago project's horn section and Lourd de Veyra, frontman of the band. If all goes well four videos from Queso will be coming out all at the same time.

Sporting a new name and a more inventive approach to songwriting, the band formerly known as Cheese, oddly, recently came out with their third self-titled album. The group, widely-considered as the most innovative act to come out of local music’s nu metal phase, was originally formed by former drummer Pao Rosal, guitarist Enzo Ruidera and lead vocalist Ian Tayao in 1995 as a Foo Fighters and Stone Temple Pilots cover band. The group, which has throngs upon throngs of fans aptly nicknamed “mga daga,” has undergone a few line-up changes and is now composed of vocalist Tayao, Ruidera, drummer Robert dela Cruz, guitarist 8 Toleran, percussionist CJ Olaguera and bassist 2ts Calinawan.
